Starcraft II Beta Sign Up

OMG I cannot believe I am writing this post right now!

Yes you read the title correctly this is now an official Starcraft II Beta Sign Up on Blizzard's website right now.

I'm not going to write anything else because I know no one has read this far and that they are signing up right now.

Thank you Blizzard,
I take back everything bad I ever said about you.

Starcraft II Battle Report

Okay, I'll admit it, I was just part of one of the geekiest things I have ever seen. Jordan, Patrick, and myself just watched two guys play an alpha build of Starcraft II... for twenty minutes.

The sad part is I liked it, a lot. And will probably watch it again.

In case you weren't aware Starcraft II IS WITHOUT A DOUBT going to be the greatest game ever. This video further promotes this FACT. Seeing the new troops in action, their new abilities, and the kickass new 3dness of this badass game makes me want this game more than anything I have ever wanted, ever.

To truly realize the awesomeness that is Starcraft II you must watch this video now.

If you want someone to watch it with call me I will watch it anytime anywhere.

And if you are Blizzard I will do terrible terrible things if you let me play the alpha or beta versions of this game, terrible things.

E3 is back!

Kotaku is reporting that E3 is back and almost as big as ever. Attendance is expected to be ten times what is was last year and there are already double the amount of vendor booths there used to be.

The biggest and bestest reinstatement is that of the booth babes. For too long games have been presented to the public by fat sweaty guys in ties. Back are the days of half naked DOA girls and well half naked girls in general.

The increase in vendor turn out also means more trailers and demos for us to drool over while we wait for developers to stop dragging their feet and PUT STARCRAFT II OUT ALREADY!

June 2-4 – Prepare yourselves.

Best. Game. Evar.

Okay so as you may already know I’m excited for the as of yet unannounced release date of Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty. So excited in fact that I am currently saving my pennies, eventually around 130,000 of them, almost exclusively to play this game. Now some of you may think this “crazy” or “borderline insane” but I beg to differ. I think this is “not crazy” and “borderline not insane.” But instead of calling each other names lets look at the facts.

The first fact is completely true and there is no other opinion you could possibly have on this matter.
Blizzard has never made a bad game…ever.
Go ahead think about it I’ll give you a minute.

Good that’s what I thought.

Moving right along we come to the fact that this is the follow to one of the most highly touted video games ever. Not just on PC, not just in the ‘90s, EVER. Now some of you will say, “But Andrew, Starcraft didn’t even win all of the game of the year awards in 1998.” This sadly is true but is a non issue. Starcraft was released during arguably the greatest year for gaming. Resident Evil II, Ocarina of Time, Unreal, Banjo-Kazooie, Fallout 2, Pokémon Red and Blue, Metal Gear Solid, Half-Life, Thief, Baldur’s Gate, the list goes on and on. All of these titles, with exception to Banjo-Kazooie, have released sequels that are just as good if not better than the originals. Being rated among the best of these classics is an honor itself, not to mention the fact that Starcraft is the only game on this list that is still sold in stores. Seriously try to go to Best Buy and pick up a copy of Fallout 2.

The most impressive fact is that a decade later people are still playing Starcraft, a lot. According to Blizzard in 2004 they have 12 million active unique users on Battle.net. That doesn’t even include all the nutters in South Korea holding tournaments on television. I’m sorry did I say nutters I meant Gods among mere mortals. People straight up worship this game.

The original Starcraft aside the fact of the matter is that even if you’ve never played Starcraft, if this is the case I probably hate you, the new trailers and game play footage look phenomenal. I am also super stoked about Blizzard splitting the game into a trilogy. I do see why some of you are not as excited as I am about this. This means that in addition to a couple hundred, or thousand in my case, dollars to upgrade your PC, you will also be dropping around 150 dollars on the three segments of the game. Blizzard has said that each piece of the trilogy will be as long as or longer than the original Starcraft as I whole, for this I am grateful. This gives Blizzard enough game play time to actually tell a story which unfortunately is becoming less and less common in the gaming world.

I guess what I am really trying to say is that I am anxiously counting the days until TBA officially hits. And once WOL goes gold my family and friends will be seeing a lot less of me.
